Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Watsonville, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The City is requesting Proposals from qualified firms experienced in construction management (CM) and inspection services for the SAFER ACCESS TO PAJARO VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL and BEYOND Project to provide construction management and inspection services through the duration of the project. The construction contract includes 3 parts: Relocation of the 6-inch sanitary sewer force main; Widening the existing Caltrans-owned bridge over Highway 1 (Harkins Slough Rd.) Pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements near feeder schools, including curb ramp replacement and striping improvements. The plan is to improve conditions for walking and bicycling to Pajaro Valley High School and its feeder schools. The existing overpass (Bridge No. 36-0089) has a single 5-foot wide sidewalk and no bike lanes. The widened structure will support a 6-foot wide sidewalk and bi-directional bike lanes with a concrete barrier between the bike lanes and vehicle traffic. The bridge widening will be supported by driven piles and pre-cast concrete beams. To prevent damage to the existing sanitary sewer force main which is currently under Highway 1, a new sanitary sewer force main shall be installed through an existing casing within the bridge. Work includes tying into the existing system. Offsite pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements include curb ramp replacements, high visibility crosswalks and green buffered bike lanes at school sites that feed into PVHS. The City of Watsonville is the lead agency for this project, with Caltrans providing oversight engineering for all work within the Caltrans right-of-way.
