The extent of work is the furnishing of all labor, equipment, and materials for the construction of improvements generally described as follows: SE Salix Drive from Veterans Parkway to SE 1st Street in the City of West Des Moines, including grading and PCC paving, storm sewer, water main, sanitary force main, and fiber optic conduit. Location- All work is located within the City of West Des Moines, Iowa, in easements on private property and on property owned by the City of West Des Moines. All work is to be done in strict compliance with the Plans and Specifications prepared by HDR Engineering, Inc. All bids shall be made on the form furnished by the City through wdm.ionwave.net and must be filed on or before the time specified. Each proposal must be electronically accompanied by a scanned copy of the bid bond or a scanned copy of a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted, it must be on the form provided with the contract documents. A physical copy of the bid security will be required to be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by the apparent low bidder within 48 hours of the bid deadline. The successful bidder must furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price and provide a guarantee of maintenance of the improvement in the form of surety for four (4) years from acceptance. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. A Bidder Status Form must be fully completed and submitted with the bid. Work must commence within ten (10) days of the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by October 31, 2026. Liquidated damages of $1,000 per day will be assessed for each day the work remains uncompleted after the contract period. Payment for the work will be made by the City as described in the bid documents.
