Renovation of an educational facility in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The project involves replacing roof sections A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H on Beardshear Hall and repointing masonry above the roof deck. Repointing of the third story is included as an alternate. Removal of existing roof systems will be by an abatement contractor under a separate contract. Work includes coordinating removal of the existing roof systems with the abatement contractor; installation of a fully adhered 90 mil EPDM roof membrane over 1/2 inch fiberglass mat faced gypsum board and mechanically fastened rigid insulation over a self-adhering vapor barrier over concrete deck; minor concrete deck patching and repair; repointing and repair of masonry; installation of roof ladders, stairs, and fall protection; and replacement of two existing skylight cover systems. Each bid must be submitted using the electronic bidding documents and include bid security as set forth in the instructions to bidders. Bid security will serve as liquidated damages in case of failure, neglect, or refusal to sign the contract. The successful bidder must furnish a Contract Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract sum within ten days after receiving the Notice of Award. No bid may be withdrawn for 45 calendar days after the opening. The project has a participation goal of 10% for certified Targeted Small Businesses as specified in the Project Requirements. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive irregularities and accept the bid deemed in their best interest.
