Amendment 0002 to the RFP is hereby issued and attached for download. The purpose of the amendment is to make the following changes to the Solicitation: 2nd Site Visit RFI Due Date Extension Bid Due Date Extension The project requires the installation of a new sanitary and stormwater system throughout the National Museum of Natural History's Main Building and its East and West Wings to replace existing infrastructure that has reached the end of its service life. Work must be performed with extreme care to protect collections, exhibits, research operations, and the building's historic architectural features. The scope includes installing new piping systems in accordance with the construction documents, rerouting sanitary and stormwater lines to avoid sensitive spaces, capping abandoned piping where feasible, and removing old piping when capping is not possible while meeting environmental and structural safety regulations. Lead and asbestos abatement must be conducted as needed in compliance with EPA, OSHA, DOT, District of Columbia regulations, and other standards cited in the specifications. New sanitary and storm piping must also be installed within the existing tunnel system, including required supports, penetrations, and insulation. The work includes tying new systems into existing Smithsonian Institution stormwater and sanitary infrastructure outside the building, along with all proper alignment, connection materials, and testing. The project further requires development and implementation of a compliant erosion and sediment control plan, as well as inspection, removal, and replacement of roof scuppers with proper sealing and integration into the stormwater management system. All work must align with applicable codes, historic preservation requirements, Smithsonian design and construction standards, and safety regulations. Phasing must minimize disruption to museum operations, protect the public, and preserve historic and scientific assets. The period of performance for the base contract and Options 1-3, if exercised, is 740 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.
