Major construction items include Class 13 Excavation (375 C.Y.), Embankment Excavation (730 C.Y.), 8" Class A Crushed Stone (600 Ton), Reinforced Concrete Pipe (162 L.F.), SW-512 Circular Intake (1 Each), Topsoiling and Seeding (5,000 S.F.), Construction Layout and Surveying (Lump Sum), Temporary Traffic Control (Lump Sum), Mobilization (Lump Sum), and Railroad Protective Insurance (Lump Sum). Proposals must be submitted on the furnished form and include a bid security of 10% of the bid amount, payable to the Treasurer of the City of Charles City, Iowa, by certified check, cashier's check, certified share draft, or bid bond. Bid security will be forfeited as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails to enter the contract and post bond within ten days of award. Bidders may not withdraw bids for thirty days after opening. Preference is given to products, provisions, and labor from Iowa. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, any unresponsive bid, and to waive technicalities. The successful bidder must furnish a bond for 100% of the contract price, ensuring faithful performance and payment of materials and labor, and must indemnify the City from claims and damages.
