The work consists of the construction of new water main in the City of Melrose. Approximately 260 linear feet of 12-inch and approximately 1,100 linear feet of 8-inch diameter ductile iron water main shall be installed on Grove Street from Argyle Street to Lebanon Street. All water mains are to be furnished and installed with associated valves, fittings, and hydrants. Temporary bypass piping is required during construction where specified. All service connections are to be completed after the water main successfully passes pressure testing and chlorination procedures. Bids must be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and must be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price. The successful bidder must furnish a 100 percent Performance Bond and a 100 percent Payment Bond with a surety company acceptable to the owner. Complete instructions for filing bids are included in the Instructions to Bidders. If plans and specifications are obtained from sources not noted in the advertisement, the accuracy and completeness of the documents are not guaranteed and bidders are responsible for obtaining additional information, including addenda required for bidding. Failure to acknowledge issued addenda during bidding may result in a bid being non-responsive. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, accept any bid, waive any informality, omit items, or limit the extent of the work to keep within available funds.
