General: The roofing shingles on salt dome structure are failing. To restore the building envelope to a watertight condition the SHA is considering bids for the replacement of the roof. B. Work Items: 1. Removal of existing asphalt shingles, underlayment and edge flashings. 2. Installation of new underlayment and new Architectural, asphalt shingles; 3. Installation of associated edge flashing. 4. Provide a Manufacturer's and Installer's Warranty for the asphalt shingle work. C. Job Conditions And Requirements: 1. All work shall comply with all of the requirements of the SHA Grey Book. D. References: 1. NRCA - National Roofing Contractors Association. 2. SMACNA - Sheet Metal Air Conditioning Contractors National Association; a. Architectural Sheet Metal Manual - Latest Edition. E. Safety and Protection: 1. The Contractor shall be entirely responsible for all safety on the job site and project premises and shall comply with all applicable OSHA and MOSH and SHA requirements. 2. All necessary precautions and care shall be used to prevent accidental fire: a. Furnish two fully charged and operable ABC fire extinguishers readily visible within 25 feet of all operations. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. II. MATERIALS A. Underlayment: 1. At ridge, gable and eaves shall be a 55-mil-thick, self-adhering fiberglass reinforced SBS modified bitumen mem- brane with a polymeric film on top and a strippable release film over adhesive back. a. StormGuard Water & Ice Shield by GAF or approved equivalent 2. At field of roof shall be a 15 lb./100 sq. ft. non-perforated, asphalt impregnated roofing felt. B. Roof Shingles: 1. Shingles: architectural, 36 inch x 12 inch fiberglass shingles, self-sealing with manufacturer's Shall be: Royal Sovereign by GAF (or approved equivalent). Color to be brown. C. Fasteners & Hardware: 1. Roof Shingle and Flashing Fasteners: a. Roofing nails shall be galvanized 1 1/4 inch x 3d, large head nails. 1) Staples will not be permitted for application of shingle roofing. D. Metal Flashings: 1. Drip edge: at edges of shingle roofs shall be pre-formed and pre-finished, .029 Aluminum. Color to be brown. E. Sealants/Adhesives/Primer/Mastic: 1. Asphalt Primer: Asphalt Primer to meet/exceed the requirements of ASTM D-41, Type II, as manufactured, or ap- proved by, the Roofing System Manufacturer. 2. Roof Cement/Mastic: as required by shingle manufacturer F. Additional items (if needed) 1. Items such as sheathing and structure lumber (as needed) will be bid as line items separate from the lump sum cost of this project. If the contractor encounters structural issues prior to installation of new underlayment, they shall provide a cost/quantity to the State project manager for approval of those additional costs. These items shall be bid to include installation labor and fasteners. An overall Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) subcontract participation goal of 0 percent
