The City of Independence is requesting a proposal from a licensed and insured landscaping company to perform a replacement planting of thirty-seven existing trees in the downtown business district of Independence, KS. The downtown streetscape features 4’ x 4’ tree wells set into the concrete sidewalk, covered with metal grates. The existing trees, which have exceeded the size limits for the space and are due for replacement, will be removed by city staff. The locations of the tree wells to be replaced are the 100 block of East Main Street, 100 block of West Main Street, 100 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue, and 100 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue.
