The project involves the construction of interior renovation work totaling approximately 61,463 square feet, along with associated site work at the Crossroads Elementary School in West Des Moines, Iowa. Lump-sum bids are to be submitted for general construction, which includes interior renovation, mechanical, and electrical work. Construction may commence after required contracts, bonds, and insurance are approved, with substantial completion required by a specified date. Bidders are required to submit a bid security of not less than 5 percent of the base bid, which must be payable to the West Des Moines Community School District and be unconditional. The successful bidder must also provide a Certificate of Insurance and performance and payment bonds each for 100% of the contract price. The project is tax exempt, and bidders should not include Iowa State Sales Tax in bid totals. Preference is to be given to products and provisions produced or grown within Iowa, and bidders must submit a statement regarding their resident status using the designated form. Bids must remain irrevocable for 30 days following submission. Failure to submit required forms or meet stated requirements may result in rejection of the bid.
