PROJECT DESCRIPTION A. This project includes the replacement of the FCA-1 Substation located in Terminal A-East at the Philadelphia International Airport. This replacement includes the low voltage switchgear, MV transformers and MV switches. The substation is fed from 15kV lines #13 & #14 from the Main Terminal Substation. The existing transformers and switches will be replaced outdoors on an elevated platform, and the new switchgear will be housed on the roof of the existing substation room. All client design standards and city and national design standards outlined in the 2024 PHL AE Design Standards will be adhered to in this project. The low-voltage feeders will penetrate through the roof from the new switchgear to re-connect to their distribution panels. Major tasks in this project include: a. Demolition of existing switchgear at substation FCA-1. b. Structural and architectural designs for supporting/housing new equipment. c. Temporarily feeding existing loads during construction. d. Installing and testing new switchgear equipment and related accessories. e. Phasing and minimizing power outages during construction with temporary power solutions.
