Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in West Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a 15,200-square-foot playground / park / athletic field.

The project includes playground improvements at four schools: Fairmeadows Elementary, Jordan Creek Elementary, Western Hills Elementary, and Westridge Elementary, all located in West Des Moines. The scope of work involves the removal of approximately 1800 SY of mulch, 60 SY of sidewalk, and play equipment at one site. It also includes the construction of 15,200 SF of synthetic turf playground surfaces, installation of 1,000 LF of beam curb, rock base, 960 LF of subdrains, and playground equipment at Western Hills Elementary. Work is scheduled to commence on June 3, 2026, with specified substantial completion dates for each site. Each bidder must provide a bid security in a separate envelope, amounting to 5% of the bid, as assurance of entering into a contract and furnishing a corporate surety bond for 100% of the contract amount if awarded. The bid security must be a cashier's or certified check from a bank in Iowa or the United States, a certified bank share draft from a credit union in Iowa or the United States, or a bid bond with satisfactory corporate surety. Bidders are also required to submit a statement regarding residency status. Sales tax should not be included on the bid form. No bid may be withdrawn for 30 days after the scheduled closing. A performance bond and payment bond will be required, and out-of-state bidders must be prepared to submit an Out-of-State Contractor Bond. The owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and waive informalities in bidding. The general nature of the work is as follows: The project is located at four schools: Fairmeadows Elementary at 807 23rd St., West Des Moines; Jordan Creek Elementary at 4105 Fuller Rd., West Des Moines; Western Hills Elementary at 600 39th St. West Des Moines; and Westridge Elementary at 5500 EP True Parkway, West Des Moines. Project includes the removal of approximately 1800 SY of mulch, 60 SY of sidewalk and play equipment at one location. It includes the construction of 15,200 SF of synthetic turf playground surfaces with 1,000 LF of beam curb; rock base; 960 LF of subdrains; and includes playground equipment at Western Hills Elementary. The work shall commence on June 3, 2026. Work at Fairmeadows Elementary and Jordan Creek Elementary must be substantially completed by August 21, 2026; work at Western Hills Elementary and Westridge Elementary must be substantially completed by September 11, 2026. (Note: Substantial completion date for Western Hills Elementary and Westridge Elementary was extended after official publication of this notice.)
