The project consists of reconstruction and utility replacement on South 5th Street from West Main Street to Saratoga Street. All utilities will be replaced, including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer within the identified areas. The project includes new water and sewer services to the right-of-way, pavement removal, aggregate base, bituminous surfacing, concrete driveways, sidewalks, curb and gutter, and other minor work. Major estimated work items are: common excavation (963 CY), aggregate base (956 CY), 12" PVC pipe sewer (546 LF), 15" RC pipe sewer class III (188 LF), 36" span RC pipe-arch sewer CL IIA (172 LF), 6" PVC watermain (623 LF), 10" PVC watermain (80 LF), 48" DIA. sanitary sewer manhole (7.6 LF), 4" concrete walk (5,309 SF), and concrete curb & gutter, design B618 (1,261 LF). All bidders are required to become acquainted with the extent of the work and the conditions under which the work will be performed. All bids must be submitted electronically and accompanied by a deposit or bond of not less than 10% of the bid. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive minor defects, technicalities, or informalities, or advertise for new proposals, and accept the bid deemed to be in the City's best interest. Plans and specifications are available at the Office of the City Engineer or may be downloaded online. Prospective bidders must register as a Plan Holder to download plans and specifications. No bidder may withdraw a bid for at least 30 days after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids. Bid results will be posted to online following bid opening All bids shall be made electronically and shall be accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check, payable to the order of the City for not less than 10% of the bid.
