Sealed proposals are requested for the construction, including all labor, materials, and equipment, for the SOUTH STREET RAILROAD CROSSING project. The general description of the work includes the reconstruction of South Street and the railroad crossing from 600 feet east of Sagamore Parkway to Century Place. The project involves resurfacing South Street, including HMA wedge and level, removal of the median wall, and replacing it with a raised landscaped median. Additional improvements to South Street include widening for a signalized westbound left turn lane into Hamman Drive, signal improvements at Century Place, installation of enclosed storm sewer, underdrains, curb and gutter, trail, curb ramps, intersection lighting, and raised landscaped medians. Work must be in accordance with the Bidding Documents, which include the Specifications and Construction Drawings. Bids must be properly and completely executed on Form No. 96 (Revised 2013), accompanied by a Project Bid Proposal Form. A cashier's check or satisfactory bond, in an amount not less than five percent of the bid, is required as a deposit to ensure execution of the contract. Bidders must include their Federal I.D. number on Page 1 of Form 96 under the "Oath and Affirmation" section. If applicable, wage rates must comply with the current Federal Wage Decision. The selected contractor is required to provide a Performance Bond and a Labor & Materials Payment Bond, each for one hundred percent of the contract price. No bid may be withdrawn within ninety days after the bid date. The City of Lafayette reserves the right to retain all bids for up to ninety days, to waive informalities, and to award the contract to any bidder or to reject all bids. All bidders must register with the engineering firm before obtaining bid documents to ensure receipt of all addendums and clarifications.
