Description

Renovation of a detention facility in Elk Grove, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

LOG NO. 5381 FACILITY NO. 00080 The County of Sacramento is soliciting proposals for the Sacramento County Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC) project to replace HVAC units in Buildings 555 and 570 with an all-electric chilled water and hot water system. The scope of work is to provide full design services for replacing twenty (20) packaged gas-electric rooftop HVAC units with individual rooftop chilled water and hot water air handlers. These new air handlers will be paired with a new grade level chilled water and heating hot water heat pump plant. The design must comply with Chapter 11 of the 2025 California Mechanical Code, which restricts I-3 occupancies from receiving air conditioning from high-probability direct expansion systems. The project aims to support Sacramento County's Climate Action Plan, which targets an 85% reduction in carbon emissions from 2021 levels by 2045, by replacing natural gas HVAC units with air source heat pump alternatives.
