The Town of Morris Highway Department is requesting bids for the furnishing of all labor, insurance, materials, equipment, and traffic control necessary to perform chip seal surface treatment on various town roads. The application of aggregate must meet all State of Connecticut Department of Transportation standards and specifications. Scope of work includes: - The Town will pre-sweep and prepare the roads as much as possible. Final (day-of) surface preparation is the contractor's responsibility. - Prior to chip seal operation, the Town will sweep all roads as needed before chip sealing. On the day of work, the Town will provide a turbine blower. - Preparing the pavement surface - Covering all personal covers, drain inlet covers, or other utility covers with cut-to-fit plastic sheets or plastic bags; all traces of plastic, residual emulsion, and chips must be removed - Applying the polymer modified asphalt surface sealer - Applying aggregate - Rolling the aggregate - The Town of Morris will sweep and dispose of the loose stone - Traffic control is to be provided by the contractor, with at least two traffic control persons supplied unless more are needed. The Town will provide additional flaggers as needed.
