Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in Riverton, Illinois. Completed plans call for the construction of a 11,000-square-foot transportation facility.
Work will consist of constructing a 50'Wx220'Lx14'H pre-engineered metal building with 15 bus bays, including foundations, footers, and 6" reinforced concrete floor. Work shall include wainscot, downspouts, trim, overhead and man-doors as required in the plans and specifications. Color schemes shall be presented to the district for selection. Work will also consist of construction of a 40'x230' reinforced concrete approach at the bus bays. complete the project by August 3, 2026. Building Specifications: 50'W X 220'L X 14'H 50' Pre-Engineered Wood Trusses, 8' O.C. 4 / 12 Pitch, ceiling rated. 1' Overhang with 29ga Perforated Steel Soffit Panel Post Hole foundation with 15" concrete footer 3 Ply 2x6 Nail Laminated Columns (Eaves 8' O.C.) (Gables 8' O.C.) 2 Rows of 2x6 Tongue & Groove TREATED SYP #2 Skirt Boards 2x6 SPF #2 BTR Double Truss Carrier Roof Purlins 2x4 SPF #2 BTR On Edge 2' O.C. Wall Girts 2x4 SPF #2 BTR 2' O.C. Install 440 LF of 6" gutters with downspouts Siding, Roof and Trim: Roof-- 29ga AG Panel w/Condenstop Walls-- 29ga AG Panel Wainscot-- 29ga AG Panel Doors, Windows and Accessories Install 15 - Commercial Ribbed, non-insulated, White, 15" radius, no windows, wind load per Sangamon County code, white weatherseal Install 3 -36"x80" Out Swing White Flush Steel Entry Door with closers and latch guards. Additional Elements: Concrete Floor - o Remove +/-0.5" of Asphalt pavement. Perform a proof roll on existing aggregate base to confirm it is suitable for concrete floor. o Provide +/-2" of CA6 Aggregate base on north end of site and +/- 1.5" of CA6 Aggregate base on south end of site to achieve proposed elevations. o Install 8,800 SF of 6" thick, 4000 PSI concrete floor, reinforced with 1/2 " rebar. Saw cut control joints with a smooth finish. o Install 16 - 6" steel bollards filled with concrete on each side of bays Site Finish Grading and Seeding o Contractor to provide Finish Grading to the lines and grades shown on the plans, and seed all disturbed areas after completion Until bids have been opened, plans and specifications shall be on file in the office of Martin Engineering Company, subject to the inspection of all parties desiring to bid. The Board of Trustees of Riverton CUSD #14 reserves the right to waive any irregularities in the bids, reject any or all bids and to accept any bid deemed most advantageous to the School District. Preference will be given to bidders that can complete the project by August 3, 2026. Bids received after stated time will not be accepted and will be returned unopened. Interested parties may obtain bidding documents either electronically by emailing mecmail@martinengineeringco.com or requesting hard copies from Martin Engineering Company, 3695 S. 6th Street, Frontage Road West, Springfield, Illinois 62703, (217)698-8900. Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes marked "Riverton CUSD #14 Bus Garage". An accompanying bid bond shall be equal to 5% of the total bid price. This may be in the form of a Certified Check, Bank Draft, or Bid Bond payable to the Owner. Contractor shall not pay less than the prevailing rate of wages as determined by the Department of Labor to all laborers, workmen, mechanics performing work under this contract, and shall comply with the requirements of the Illinois Wages of Employees on Public Works Act. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a satisfactory Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond for the full amount of the bid accepted. Persons interested in visiting the site shall contact MEC to coordinate access with Riverton District personnel. Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive technicalities and minor irregularities in bidding, and to award a Contract for any part of the Work or the Project as a whole. Riverton CUSD #14 is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Minority business firms are encouraged to submit a bid for this project. Work can begin Monday June 1, 2026. The District wishes work to be complete before Monday August 3, 2026. If this schedule cannot be met additional measures must be taken to ensure work can continue while school is in session.
