City of New Hampton is requesting bids for the West Garfield Street Extension project. The work includes construction of West Garfield Street from Western Avenue to Croell Drive, including a twin 8-foot by 6-foot box culvert. The construction will involve general site grading, installation of a new water main, rerouting of existing storm sewer to the new culvert with new street intakes, new 7-inch PCC or 7-inch HMA street paving, sidewalk improvements along the north side of Garfield Street, and erosion control at the downstream and upstream ends of the box culvert. All bidders must obtain bidding documents from QuestCDN.com or from Strand Associates, Inc. Bidders must be on the Plan Holders List at the issuing office, or their bids may be considered non-responsive. Bids must include bid security payable to the owner in an amount of 5% of the bidder's maximum bid price. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and resident bidders are allowed preference according to Iowa statutes. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive any technicality, and accept any bid deemed advantageous. Bids shall remain subject to acceptance for 60 days after the set date for receiving bids. Contract award shall be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
