The Union Township Trustees office is accepting mowing bids for the 2026 mowing season for two cemeteries: Rothrock II Cemetery, 1187 N Airport Rd, Monticello, IN (0.199 acres, must be mowed by push mower only) and Shafer Cemetery, 2408 N 750 E, Monticello, IN (1 acre, does not include the pet cemetery). Bids should be submitted for each cemetery individually and should also include an hourly rate for special projects as directed by the Union Township Trustee office. Bidders must provide their own equipment and insurance. Cemeteries are to be mowed once a week unless called off due to dry weather. No chemicals are to be used on or near tombstones. Weed whacking is permitted around perimeter fencing only. Extreme care is to be used when mowing around tombstones to avoid touching or damaging them. Hand trimming is required when grass around tombstones reaches 6-7 inches in height. Trimming of bushes and low-hanging branches as needed is also required. Bids are to be mailed to Union Township Trustee, PO Box 84, Monticello, IN 47960, and must be postmarked by April 24, 2026.
