Questions Due 4-16-2026 All questions must be submitted via email to the Deputy Director of Public Works, Tim Bassuener, at tbassuener@lith.org Products Roof Shingles Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles "color to be picked by the Villages representative." Glass fiber mat base, Architectural type. Shall meet UL 790 Class A Fire Resistance Shall meet UL 2218 Class 4 Impact Resistance Shall meet ASTM D3018, Type I (Self-Sealing) Shall meet ASTM D3161 Class F Wind Resistance Shall be fungus-resistant Install shingles in accordance with the manufacturer's printed installation instructions. Install first and successive courses of shingles stepping diagonally up and across the roof deck with the manufacturer's recommended offset at each succeeding course. Maintain uniform shingle exposure in each successive course. Fasten shingles to the deck using the manufacturer's recommended number of roofing nails per shingle, in accordance with local codes. Hip and Ridge Shingles Provide hip and ridge shingles color formulated to match the new roof shingles. Hip and ridge shingles shall be compatible with the roof shingles and shall be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. Hip and ridge shingles shall meet and be installed to conform to the same standards as the roof shingles. Starter Shingles A starter strip shall be installed along all eaves. Install the starter course at the lowest roof edge and along the rake, with the shingles' edges extending 1/4 inch beyond the roof's edge. The starter strip shall be compatible with the roof shingles and shall be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ice and Water Barrier An ice-and-water barrier shall be compatible with the roof shingles and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Shall meet ASTM D4869, Type I. Install ice-and-water barriers from the eaves edge of the roof up the slope, not less than 24 inches beyond the interior edge of the exterior wall. Lap ends according to the manufacturer's instructions, but not less than 19 inches. Install ice-and-water barriers in all valleys that are at least 36 inches wide and centered in the valley.
