The City of Los Angeles, through the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, is planning a mobility project to install protected bike lanes and related safety improvements along a stretch of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South Los Angeles. The project covers approximately 1.5 miles of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Broadway and Hooper Avenue, as well as connecting segments of Broadway Place and 39th Street. Planned improvements include protected bicycle lanes, new curb ramps, ADA-accessible parking, a new traffic signal at 39th Street and Broadway Place, and traffic calming and wayfinding elements such as speed humps, sharrows, and signage. The corridor connects to regional transit services including Metro’s E and J Lines and serves the area east of the I-110 Freeway.
