Sealed bids or electronic bids are requested from general contractors for the demolition of Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts - Additional Improvements. The successful Bidder is allowed 71 calendar days to complete the Project from the commencement date stated in the Agreement or a Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages will be assessed at $500.00 for each consecutive calendar day for which the work is not substantially complete and $500.00 for each consecutive calendar day beginning the 46th day after the date of Substantial Completion for which all of the work listed on the punch list is not complete. Bids must be accompanied by a bid security equal to five percent (5%) of the base bid and include all additive alternates in the form of a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond. The successful bidder is required to furnish a Performance Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount and a Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount written by a company that complies with the provisions of La. R.S. 38:2219 and on the East Baton Rouge School Board's Forms included in the Bidding Documents. The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board has adopted a Fair Share Procurement Policy with a goal of at least twenty (20%) percent participation by MWBEs. All respondents are encouraged to utilize minority participation through the use of small, disadvantaged, and women-owned businesses as consultants. Bidders must meet the requirements of the State of Louisiana Contractor's Licensing Law, R.S. 37:2151 et seq. Bids shall only be accepted from contractors who are licensed under Louisiana Contractors Licensing Law for the major classification of building construction. The apparent low bidder must complete and deliver to Program Management within ten (10) calendar days after the date of the opening of the Bids the sworn affidavit required to comply with La. R.S. 38:2212.10 regarding an employee status verification system, the signed no-conviction affidavit required by La. R.S. 38:2227, the non-collusion affidavit required by La. R.S. 38:2224, and other required documents as specified in the Bidding Documents. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 45 days after the date of the bid opening except as provided by law. The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board reserves the right to award the project on whatever basis is in the interest of the Owner and to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and informalities as allowed by law.
