Renovation of a mixed-use development in Waukee, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility; 25,000-square-foot fire / police facility; and fire / police facility.
This project includes the furnishing of all labor, equipment, and materials for Bid Package #13 for the renovation of the existing Waukee Fire/Police Building at 1300 SE LA Grant Parkway in Waukee. Bid Packages #01 - 12 were previously bid and have or will be awarded. The project is generally described as a renovation of the existing Police and Fire Department Building to align with the overall operation and design concept of the new Waukee Public Safety Facility. The existing facility is approximately 25,000 square feet. The Fire Department occupies the south portion of the building, and the north portion, formerly occupied by the Police Department, will be renovated for the City of Waukee's Community Development group. The renovation includes updates to the office and living space, apparatus bays and doors, repurposing portions of the apparatus bays for fitness and turnout gear areas, updates to the front entry and shared lobby area, as well as improvements and repairs to exterior areas of masonry, gutters, downspouts, and site paving. The majority of the mechanical and electrical systems are anticipated to be updated for the new functions and layout. Bids will be received for Bid Package #13 - Earthwork & Utilities. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the work. A Performance Bond, separate Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Insurance in a form acceptable to the Owner will be required of the successful Bidder. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the Construction Manager and accompanied by a certified check or cashier's check drawn on a state or federally chartered bank or credit union, or a Bid Bond executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid. Bids must be sealed and plainly marked, and any alteration of the Bid Form may cause rejection. State sales tax is exempt for this project. In accordance with Department of Labor Rules, a statement regarding the bidder's resident status must be included on the designated Bidder Status Form. The City of Waukee reserves the right to reject any or all bids, re-advertise for new bids, and waive informalities in the best interest of the City. Monthly estimates will be paid as work progresses, with final payment made upon final acceptance and proof that all claims have been paid in full.
