The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is seeking bids for the treatment of invasive brush on two tracts totaling approximately 150 acres within the Black River State Forest. The areas involved are described as Buckthorn Haven Site Prep and Nightmare Before Christmas 2 Site Prep. The projects require understory forestry mowing in stands of mature timber scheduled for harvest. The areas have a high volume of invasive brush, mainly glossy buckthorn. The work involves mowing/mulching the brush using a drum style brush mulcher/mower to aid ATV/UTV access for subsequent broadcast herbicide treatment. All brush and coarse woody debris are to be mowed to ground level and reduced to mulch, with no debris left on the ATV/Snowmobile trail. Any debris on the trail must be promptly removed. Prospective bidders are encouraged to examine the site before bidding.
