Sealed bids will be received for the Newman-Ripple Creek Fish Passage Improvement Project. Major bid items include: mobilization, dewatering and work site isolation, abutment excavation, haul and disposal, channel excavation, streambed gravels, geotextile for soil separation at abutments, gravel footing, providing and installing Ultrablock Abutment System, scour protection, installing a provided bridge, gravel borrow import, backfill and compaction, gravel surfacing, seed and mulch, project cleanup, minor change, and other items in conformance with the latest WSDOT Standard Specifications, APWA Supplement, and the Special Provisions for this project. The project is funded by a Salmon Recovery Funding Board grant and is subject to Washington State prevailing wage provisions. This project will improve fish passage on Sandi Newman's property at 273 Romerman Road, Chehalis, WA 98532 by replacing an undersized barrier culvert with a 40' long by 14' wide prefabricated bridge. The Bonneville Power Administration holds an access easement that utilizes the barrier culvert crossing. The project will restore unrestricted aquatic passage at the Newman/BPA crossing on Ripple Creek, providing access to approximately 2.0 miles of spawning and rearing habitat before the next upstream barrier culvert on Haywire Road (owned by Lewis County). This project is funded by a grant from Salmon Recovery Funding Board administered by the Washington Recreation and Conservation Office.
