Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Madison, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a road / highway; road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

This project is being let using the single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders. If a project does not include any mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection divisions of work, DFD will bid one bid package for all work to general prime contractors. In general, the work consists of: resurfacing and reconstructing existing parking lots and roadways throughout the park to repair deteriorating surface conditions and failing pavement and to reduce yearly maintenance costs. The work includes pulverizing existing pavement, excavation to subgrade, new base material and pavement, geotextile fabric, concrete curb and gutter, concrete storm sewer pipe and storm structures, adjustment in surface grades for better drainage, extension of parking lot LED lighting to increase visibility, addition of concrete dumpster pads, and surface restoration including pavement markings and signs. Modifications to existing medians and/or islands configurations will add parking stalls. Improvements to rescue roadways will include removal of vegetation/shrubs/trees, addition of dense graded base, grading roadway for positive drainage, grading/removal of road side berming/accumulated materials, ditch cleaning and grading to provide improved drainage, ditch stabilization, culvert replacement and new culverts, and culvert markers. A new ADA accessible kayak launch will be installed to comply with ADA accessibility requirements and a new parking lot will also be built in preparation of a future ADA accessible trailhead. The overall work includes general erosion control and turf restoration. Bid Guarantee in the amount of 10% of the Bid must accompany each bid submitted.
