The project involves providing all work, materials, and equipment to place approximately 34,000 SY of asphalt sealant on the surface of an existing wastewater equalization basin, located at the Iowa City Wastewater Treatment Facility, 4366 Napoleon St SE, Iowa City, IA 52240. All work must be performed in strict compliance with the Project Manual prepared by the City of Iowa City. Each proposal must be completed on a form supplied by the City, submitted in a sealed envelope. Additionally, a separate sealed envelope is required containing a completed Bidder Status Form and a bid security executed by a corporation authorized as a surety in Iowa, in the sum of 10% of the bid. The bid security must be made payable to the Treasurer of the City of Iowa City and will be forfeited if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten days of the contract award and post the required bond. The performance, payment, and maintenance bond shall be equal to 100% of the contract price and guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor, the protection of the City from claims and damages, and maintenance of the improvement for five years after completion and formal acceptance. Bidders must list all intended subcontractors, including the type of work and approximate amount. The contract must also list subcontractors with quantities, unit prices, and extended amounts. Preference must be given to products, provisions, and labor from Iowa, as required by law. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technicalities and irregularities.
