Renovation of a water / sewer project in Bessemer, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 2,501-square-foot water / sewer project.
The City of Bessemer is seeking bids to remove and replace the asphalt roof on the Water Plant and Generator Buildings located at E7536 Stone Road, Bessemer, MI 49911. The existing roof must be removed and disposed of, and new ice and water barrier, synthetic underlayment, and asphalt roof installed. The water plant building is approximately 61' x 41', and the generator building is approximately 25' x 17'. Working hours are between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise granted by the city. Shingles should be CertainTeed "Heather Blend" or equivalent in color, CertainTeed Landmark (30 year) shingle or equivalent, ice and water barrier should be Grace or equivalent, and underlayment must be synthetic. Contractor responsibilities include obtaining a building permit from Ironwood Township, disposing of the existing roof, protecting all buildings and surrounding areas from damage, ensuring buildings are not susceptible to water intrusion during the project, providing their own measurements and materials, supplying a detailed work schedule, and completing the project without unnecessary interruptions. Work must be completed by October 1, 2026. Contractors must be licensed and insured, follow all local and state building codes, provide a lump sum price for the roof replacement project, and include a unit price for any roof deck repairs or replacement per sheet of decking. All materials, including flashing, sealant, fasteners, and related components, must be included at a lump sum price. Bids will be accepted until April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. (CST). Sealed bids labeled "Water Plant Roof Replacements" must be mailed or delivered to Bessemer City Hall. The City of Bessemer reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept the bid deemed most advantageous to the City.
