To be considered in this study is a new 20,000 square-foot, two-story office building to be located northwest of the intersection of Tuxedo Ave and Broadway in San Antonio, Texas. The structure will also include ancillary driveway and parking area pavements, which include a parking lot northeast of the intersection of Tuxedo Ave and Broadway. The proposed structure is anticipated to create maximum column loads on the order of 400 kips to be carried by a deep foundation system or 180 kips for a shallow foundation system. Floor systems consisting of slabs-on-ground or slabs-on-fill are expected to be preferred, provided soilrelated, potential vertical movements will not cause structural performance problems. Earth retaining structures are also anticipated.
