The project involves the removal of existing illuminated and retroreflective street name signs, including all associated components such as brackets, banding, and wiring, and the furnishing and installation of new illuminated and retroreflective street name signs with all associated components. All electrical connections must be installed in accordance with manufacturer requirements and be fully operational. The contractor is responsible for providing all materials, transportation, labor, equipment, and services necessary for the complete scope of work. All signs must meet the requirements of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) standards. Traffic control plans are required to ensure uninterrupted and safe vehicular and pedestrian traffic throughout the work areas. Bidders are instructed that bids must be submitted with a deposit or bond of at least 10 percent of the total bid, and the successful bidder must provide performance and payment bonds each for 100 percent of the contract price. The contractor must pay prevailing wages as determined by the Department of Industrial Relations. License requirements include a valid State of California Contractors License Classes A (General Engineering Contractor), C-10 (Electrical Contractor), and C-45 (Sign Contractor).
