The project consists of masonry repairs to the Mallinckrodt chimney for the Wilmette Park District. The scope of work includes repairing mortar joints between the 95'-0 level and the 75'-0 level (100% / 600 SF), which are to be ground out as needed to a minimum depth of 1" or until a sound surface is reached, then tuckpointed with ASTM C270 Type N mortar. Mortar joints will be rinsed of dust and debris prior to repointing. Open and deteriorated mortar joints below the 70'-0 level (approx. 10% / 200 SF) will also be ground out as needed and tuckpointed in the same manner. Exterior surfaces of steel tension bands will be cleaned of peeling paint and loose rust, then coated with a rust-inhibitive industrial grade product. Sealant will be installed at the top edge of each band to prevent moisture infiltration between the band and the chimney. Bidders must submit sealed bids on proposal forms included in the bid documents and include all specification and warranty sheets. All contracts are subject to Wilmette Park District regulations and require payment of Cook County’s prevailing wage rates. The Park District reserves the right to reject any or all bids, accept any bid in the public interest, or waive irregularities or informalities in bidding. Only compliant bids will be considered. No bids shall be withdrawn for thirty days after opening.
