Renovation of a recreation facility in Wilmette, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a recreation facility.
The scope of work includes repairing mortar joints. The mortar joints between the 95’-0 level and the 75’-0 level (100% / 600 SF) will be ground out as needed to a minimum depth of 1” or until a sound surface is reached. The prepared mortar joints will be tuckpointed with an ASTM C270 Type N mortar. The mortar joints will be rinsed of dust and debris prior to repointing. The open and deteriorated mortar joints below the 70’-0 level (approximately 10% / 200 SF) will be ground out as needed and the prepared mortar joints will be tuckpointed with an ASTM C270 Type N mortar. The joints will be rinsed of dust and debris prior to repointing. The exterior surface of the steel tension bands will be cleaned of peeling paint and loose rust. The prepared steel bands will be coated with a rust inhibitive industrial grade product. Sealant will be installed at the top edge of each band to prevent moisture infiltration between the band and the chimney. Bid Bond Yes All bids must be accompanied by cashier’s check or bid bond payable to the order of the Wilmette Park District for five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid as provided in the Instructions to Bidders. No proposals or bids will be considered unless accompanied by such bond or check. All bids will remain firm for 30 days after the bid opening. The Wilmette Park District reserves the right to reject any or all bid proposals or to accept any bid proposal, which in its judgment, will be in the best interest of the public or to waive any informalities in bidding.
