Reference Number 0000425080 Bid Intent Not Available The North Kingstown School Department is requesting bids for wastewater treatment plant operating services located at the North Kingstown High School located at 150 Fairway Drive. The following request is for a one (1)-year service contract with two (2) one-year options from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. The high school is located at 150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The facility was constructed in 2001 and is serviced by municipal water and an OWTS designed to treat and infiltrate approximately 40,000 gallons of wastewater per day. Wastewater generated at the high school is primarily conveyed by gravity to a Fixed Activated Sludge Treatment System (FAST). The FAST system through a combination of trickling filter media and activated sludge processes is designed to reduce biological oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS) and nitrogen from the waste water. The FAST system consists of two identical treatment trains (20,000 gallons per day each). Wastewater effluent generated by the FAST system is conveyed to a 20,000 gallon pump chamber. The pump chamber contains two duplex pumping units that discharge the treated effluent to two (2) shallow narrow drain field areas. Effluent is distributed to the drain fields through multiple rotating valves. Currently, the OWTS is operating at approximately 20,000 gallons per day or 1/2 half of the System design capacity and only one of the treatment trains is operating. The locations of the existing OWTS components will be identified and reviewed at the mandatory pre-bid meeting.
