The North Carolina Department of Public Safety Emergency Management Division and the Department of Transportation are requesting bids for design bid build and standard bridge design of bridges on private roads over North Toe River at 5634 US Hwy 19E, Newland and over Horse Creek at 85 Kay Jay Lane, Newland in Avery County to be let at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Any firm that wishes to bid as a prime contractor shall be prequalified as a Bidder or PO Prime Contractor prior to submitting a bid. Firms that wish to perform as a subcontractor to the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to beginning work on the project. This is not a mandatory pre-bid conference however all potential bidders are strongly encouraged to attend. The completion date is one hundred thirty (130) consecutive days after and including the date of availability at 5631 US Hwy 19E and eighty (80) consecutive days after and including the date of availability at 85 Kay Jay Lane.
