The project involves construction of water infrastructure improvements to provide the Village of Copenhagen with a reliable drinking water supply and bring the system into compliance with New York State Department of Health requirements following a prior violation caused by low well water levels. The scope includes construction of a new transmission main connecting the Village of Copenhagen's water system to the Village of West Carthage distribution network, which has sufficient capacity to supply Copenhagen. Because the Copenhagen water system is located at a higher elevation than the Twin Villages system, the project also includes construction of a booster pump station to allow effective transfer of water. These upgrades are intended to ensure long-term reliability, regulatory compliance, and consistent potable water service for the community.
