The following specification is to solicit bids for Bid #14-2526 On-Call Construction of Sidewalks. Briefly and without force and effect upon the Contract Documents, the work of the Contract can be summarized as follows: A. Work under this bid is primarily the new construction and/or replacement of existing monolithic sidewalks, non-contiguous sidewalks, curbing, driveway aprons and handicap ramps at various locations throughout the Town on an as needed basis. The work may also include resetting of granite curbing, bluestone, brick or concrete pavers in the street or sidewalk. The Town budgets approximately $75,000 per fiscal year for sidewalk work. B. Granite curbing, bluestone, brick and concrete pavers will be provided by the Town. C. The work of the contract shall take place between April 1st and November 1st of the contract year, unless specific projects are permitted by the Town Engineer for work outside of these dates, dependent upon weather and utilizing cold weather concrete practices as specified. D. The work itself will vary depending upon the requirements for each project and location. Each bid item will not be used for each project and there is no guarantee that every, or any, bid item will be utilized. E. Work shall be completed in accordance with the provided details and technical specifications. F. The bid is for the following items which are listed on the bid proposal form: - Noncontiguous Concrete Sidewalk (5" Thick) - Noncontiguous Concrete Sidewalk (8" Thick) - Integral Concrete Curb and Sidewalk - Integral Concrete Curb and Driveway - Integral Concrete Curb and Handicap Ramp - Concrete Curb - Bituminous Concrete Sidewalk - Bituminous Concrete Driveway Apron - Bituminous Concrete Curb - Reset Granite Curb - Reset Concrete Pavers in Crosswalk - Reset Brick Pavers in Sidewalk - Reset Bluestone Pavers in Sidewalk - Hourly rate for Traffic Directors G. Contract unit prices include all material, labor, overhead and profit to complete the work. H. Contract unit prices include all incidental work, including erosion control measures, saw cutting and paving associated with sidewalks, driveway aprons or curb ramps replacement in accordance with the details and specifications. I. For a comprehensive understanding of the bidder's responsibilities and obligations, the Town of Guilford Standard Details, technical specifications, and applicable Connecticut Department of Transportation Standard Details are included in Section I-III. Question Deadline 05/14/2026 at 4:00 PM ET Any questions regarding the specifications shall be directed, in writing by email only to Janice Plaziak , Town Engineer at plaziakj@guilfordct.gov with a copy to Darlene Minore, Manager of Purchasing & Accounting at purchasing@guilfordct.gov Bidders shall promptly notify the Purchasing Department, Darlene Minore at purchasing@guilforct.gov of any ambiguity, inconsistency or error, which they may discover upon examination of the specification documents
