The project consists of drainage improvements for flood protection, including construction or improvements to five pump station locations that discharge into either Chatlin Lake Canal or Hynson Bayou. This includes the strategic installation of backflow preventor flap valves at existing gravity discharges into Chatlin. The pump station locations are University Street, Parkway, Sandy Bayou, Hodges, and John Thomas. The work also involves extending a 48-inch drainage conduit from University Street to Parkway Detention Pond using 2400 linear feet of 48-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP). These improvements are within a floodplain and adjacent to wetlands. The purpose is to implement flood protection measures for the area.
