Dare County is preparing a solicitation for bids for installing vegetation along portions of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore in front of the Village of Avon and the Village of Buxton. The scope of work includes the installation of a maximum of 90,000 plants (24 inches apart) along 6,000 linear feet of oceanfront on the newly nourished dune crest and dune face in front of the Village of Avon south of the Avon Pier, and the installation of a maximum of 67,500 plants (24 inches apart) along 4,500 linear feet of oceanfront on the newly nourished dune crest and dune face in front of the Village of Buxton. Work may start on or after July 1, 2026, and is to be completed by December 31, 2026.
