Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Richmond, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the construction of a 268,625-square-foot educational facility.
The new Model Laboratory Schools facility will encompass approximately 268,625 gross square feet and service up to 1,000 students from preschool through 12th grade. More than just a school, the facility is being developed as a statewide model for educator preparation, supporting teacher training, school safety and research through formal partnership with Eastern Kentucky University's College of Education. The facility will house administrative offices, professional development and training spaces, student amenities, a performance arts center, a competition gymnasium and an auxiliary gymnasium, which will also function as an ICC 500-compliant storm shelter. Site development will create a modern campus environment and will consist of outdoor learning and play areas, a building courtyard, and natural and synthetic athletic fields. Asphalt roadways and porous paver parking areas will be provided. An early site preparation package was procured by the university, and early structural packages (Concrete, Steel Fabrication, Steel Erection) were procured through the CM/GC.
