Renovation of a military facility in Yorktown, Virginia. Working plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
Construction of a new Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) Weapons Test Facility is planned at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. The project includes design-build construction of a approximately 20,100 square-foot, single-story test facility on a reinforced concrete foundation. The facility will consist of insulated precast concrete and insulated metal wall panels supported by a steel frame superstructure, with a single-slope mechanically seamed metal roof system. Interior spaces will include maintenance bays, a drive-through aisle, tool and parts storage areas, restrooms, non-administrative supervisory office space, and mechanical and electrical equipment rooms to support high-capacity environmental control systems. The project includes installation of building systems such as HVAC with chilled water and air-cooled chillers, redundant air handling units, exhaust systems, electrical distribution, lighting, telecommunications infrastructure, electronic security systems, fire alarm systems, lightning protection, grounding, and cybersecurity features in accordance with Department of Defense criteria. Built-in equipment will include a 25-ton bridge crane, compressed air systems, a fire pump, and an emergency natural gas-fired generator. Site utilities will include sanitary sewer with lift station, potable water, fire protection water mains and hydrants, natural gas distribution, and underground electrical utilities. The project also includes antiterrorism features compliant with Unified Facilities Criteria, environmental mitigation activities including unexploded ordnance removal, and demolition of multiple existing buildings to clear the site for new construction. The anticipated magnitude of construction is between $25 million and $100 million, with an estimated performance period of approximately 1,000 calendar days.
