The Forest Preserve has set a goal to secure up to 16% of the contracted amount for contracted services and improvement projects to such disadvantaged businesses. Demolition of the two deteriorating concrete grain silos and the attached lean-to structure at the Tempest Farm Preserve located in Beecher, IL. This project includes the demolition, removal, and disposal of two concrete grain silo structures measuring approximately 10 feet wide by 33 feet high and 12 feet wide by 33 feet high, and the lean-to structure. The work includes obtaining all required permits, performing demolition with air monitoring, and providing all required reporting and documentation. It also requires safe handling, removal, reporting, and disposal of any asbestos-containing materials and construction debris in accordance with EPA regulatory requirements. The contractor must implement all measures necessary for adjacent building protection and maintain all site safety controls before and during demolition activities. Selective demolition is required for the removal of the attached wooden lean-to structure, with all salvageable wood to be carefully removed, reclaimed, and left on site.
