The Town of Chelmsford DPW - Division is requesting bids from Qualified Contractors. The work under this contract will include all equipment, labor, material, supplies, etc. necessary to furnish the work described in this contract. The major work includes full depth reclaim, finish grading and full depth paving with associated drainage work, edging/curb/berm work, sidewalk work, etc. within the Town of Chelmsford, MA. Once the reclamation of the streets is completed rough/partial grading will be done to make the streets passable for traffic until work is completed on the street. Drainage improvements are also required on Proctor Road, Tadmuck Road, and Twiss Road which requires the installation of Catch Basins, Leaching Basins and Manholes along with associated High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Pipe. Due to the altering of grades, some areas will also require granite edging/curb to be removed and reset/stacked, asphalt berm to be removed and discarded and then a new asphalt berm to be installed, and sidewalks and driveways to be adjusted/redone in various areas. An ADA Compliant Walkway is also required at Harrington School. The work shall include the construction of an approximately 260-linear foot asphalt walkway and a paved viewing area measuring 10 feet in width by 20 feet in length. The walkway shall be constructed to meet the requirements of the ADA Standards for Accessible Design for accessible routes. The walkway shall be a minimum of 5 feet in width, constructed with a maximum running slope of 5% and a maximum cross slope of 1.5%. This work shall require excavation and preparation of subgrade, furnishing and installing suitable base materials, fine grading and asphalt paving. The Contractor shall construct side slopes along the walkway at a 2:1 slope (H:V) where descending to existing grade and slope armor stone shall be installed at a 1:1 slope (H:V) where transitioning up to existing grades.
