Renovation of a recreation facility in Bowen Island, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a recreation facility.
Bowen Island Municipality (BIM) invites qualified contractors to submit quotations for the replacement of the existing vinyl/PVC fabric membrane roof at the Bowen Island Recycling Depot with a permanent metal roof system. The Recycling Depot is a 100% outdoor operations facility operated by BIM's Solid Waste Division. It operates under a tension-frame fabric (vinyl/PVC) roof system installed on a steel truss arch structure measuring 56 ft x 62 ft (approximately 3,472 sq ft) with a peak height of approximately 30 ft. The existing membrane is visibly deteriorated, heavily stained with biological growth, and has reached end of service life. Deterioration presents an increasing risk of membrane failure, which would disrupt recycling operations, damage equipment (including balers and electronics collection), and create safety hazards for staff and the public.
