Questions are due to Dr. Samélia Okpodu sokpodu@chesapeakebeachmd.gov by May 20, 2026 by 9:00 AM The Town is seeking an engineering and design consulting firm to complete the design of a new ADA compliant pedestrian trail expansion from the existing rail trail terminus to the Town limits. The extension will follow the existing railroad right of way and be designed to allow future extension linearly within the right-of-way area beyond the Town limits as well as a future possible secondary ADA accessible connection to the Richfield Station subdivision roughly within the area depicted as phase 2 on the alignment exhibit shown herein. The Town completed the construction of the existing rail trail 20+ years ago and will provide documentation in its possession from the prior project to assist the design team with background information. The consultant will perform in-field surveys, environmental features delineations and analyses to accurately design the extension based on the current site conditions. The consultant will use the information obtained by its own work to complete a 30% alignment design submittal for review and approval by the Town and 100% design construction drawings and specifications for the trail extension. The work shall include all tasks required to successfully design and permit the extension, such as geotechnical investigations, wetland delineations, forest stand and tree location surveys as well as other industry standard design tasks required to create constructable/biddable drawings and specifications. The consultant shall also process all required county, state and federal approvals including but not limited to: Maryland State Highway review and approval for grant funding Calver County Building & Grading Permits
