In general, the work consists of removal and replacement of an existing gravel surfaced built up roof system (including tapered insulation) attached to a concrete deck. The roof will be replaced with an adhered system consisting of vapor retarder, insulation (including tapered), coverboard, and a 60-mil EPDM. The new roof slope shall be ¼”:12”. Edge metal will be replaced. No rooftop units are abandoned requiring removal. Several small electrical units are abandoned and the facility will remove the items during or before the roof project. The project is located at the UW – Whitewater Heating Plant and covers an area of approximately 7,000 square feet. Structures to the west and east are outside the scope of work. All potential bidders must become certified by DOA prior to submitting bids on state construction projects with budgets over $100,000. Bids received from non-certified contractors will be rejected. Bids may be submitted as a PDF scanned file via the eBuilder Bidding Portal (preferred), by US Mail or third-party delivery, or by hand delivery to the specified location. The bidder is responsible for ensuring the sealed bid is delivered or submitted before the specified time. Construction bidding documents are available only as downloadable electronic files from the Division of Facilities Development website. A non-mandatory pre-bid tour is scheduled and bidders are encouraged to attend. No deposit is required to obtain documents for bidding purposes. Contract offer and construction phase records will be processed electronically via eBuilder. State prevailing wage requirements do not apply to this project; however, federal Davis Bacon Act requirements may still be in effect. The application of the 5% permissive bidding preference for certified minority businesses is currently paused.
