The work involves supplying the labor, equipment, dumpsters, permits, licenses, backfill, and miscellaneous supplies necessary for the demolition and removal of houses and the abatement of properties. This includes tree removal, leveling of property, and seeding. The asbestos inspections, asbestos removals if required, and utility disconnects will be provided by the city. The city will also provide an area for disposal of trees or brush. Each property will be bid separately, and the lowest bidder for each property will be awarded. Bidders are instructed to read and fill out the bid forms completely, and the bid proposal must be sealed and plainly marked on the outside of the envelope "Houses for Demolition 2026." Bids must be accompanied by a bid deposit of 5% of the total bid, which must be in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, or bid bond made payable to the City of Centralia, Illinois. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of thirty days after the actual opening date of the bid. The City of Centralia reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to accept portions of selected houses bid that appears to be in the best interest of the city and within the approved demolition budget.
