Site work, new construction and renovation of a military facility in Newport, Rhode Island. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a military facility; for site work for a military facility; and for the renovation of a military facility.

The work consists of full design-build construction of a new three-story Maintenance and Weapons Detachment building and associated site and facility improvements to support the homeporting of four Offshore Patrol Cutters. The project includes construction of a new approximately 47,000 square foot MWD building, including roughly 18,910 square feet of additional mission support space, located adjacent to the existing legacy MAT building. The design must incorporate future-proofing elements to allow for potential vertical expansion, including a vacant elevator shaft and enhanced structural and utility/HVAC capacity to support future mission requirements. The scope also includes primary site development activities such as relocation of the existing buoy yard to allow for construction of the new MWD building and installation of all required underground utilities to support the facility. The legacy MAT building will be rehabilitated and reconfigured by utilizing approximately 5,300 square feet of existing VOSS storage space for cutter storage, including construction of a mezzanine to increase usable storage capacity, and reconfiguration of storage and shop spaces to accommodate shipping, receiving, and operational needs. Additional work includes upgrades to the long-term Coast Guard parking area to support cutter crews and mission support personnel, including grading, paving, site lighting, waterfront work, and associated improvements. Miscellaneous site development around the new MWD building will include parking areas, site infrastructure, lighting, and landscaping. The project requires comprehensive design-build coordination for marine and shoreside structures, utilities, and support systems under a single firm-fixed-price contract.
