Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Duluth, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a 29,160-square-foot educational facility; for the construction of a 60,000-square-foot educational facility; laboratory facility; and office development.

The University of Minnesota is planning construction of a new Large Lakes Observatory research facility on its Duluth campus to support freshwater and large-lake scientific research focused on Lake Superior. The approximately 60,000-square-foot waterfront facility will include modern laboratories, offices, high-bay research space, and direct boat access, replacing the existing "Old Chemistry" building, which will be demolished. The project carries an estimated total cost of $60 million, including demolition and construction, with funding expected to be pursued through the 2027 Minnesota state bonding bill.
