Renovation of a recreation facility in Iowa City, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 36,384-square-foot recreation facility.
The project involves the removal of approximately 36,384 square feet of the existing roof system and the installation of a new EPDM roof system at the Robert A Lee Recreation Center, 220 S Gilbert St, Iowa City, IA 52240. All work must comply strictly with the Project Manual prepared by Shive-Hattery, Inc. Proposals must be submitted on a form provided by the City and in a sealed envelope. A separate sealed envelope is required containing a completed Bidder Status Form and a bid security in the sum of 10% of the bid, executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa. The bid security is payable to the Treasurer of the City of Iowa City and will be forfeited if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract and post bond ensuring faithful performance and maintenance of the project. The City retains the bid security of the successful bidder until the contract and required bonds are executed and approved. The checks or bonds of unsuccessful bidders are returned promptly. The successful bidder must furnish a Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price, in the approved form, guaranteeing prompt payment of all materials and labor, protecting the City from claims and damages, and guaranteeing maintenance of the improvement for one year after completion and acceptance. The City of Iowa City encourages the employment of minority contractors and subcontractors. Bidders must list all intended subcontractors, type of work, and approximate amounts on the proposal. Preference is to be given to Iowa products, coal, and domestic labor as required by law. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technicalities and irregularities. Specified limitations include a start date, substantial completion date, final completion date, and liquidated damages per day for delays.
