Renovation of a recreation facility in Iowa City, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 36,384-square-foot recreation facility.
The project involves the removal of approximately 36,384 SF of the existing roof system and installation of a new EPDM roof system at the Robert A Lee Recreation Center, 220 S Gilbert St, Iowa City, IA 52240. All work must comply strictly with the Project Manual prepared by Shive-Hattery, Inc. Each proposal must be completed on a form furnished by the City and submitted in a sealed envelope, accompanied by a separate sealed envelope containing a completed Bidder Status Form and a bid security in the sum of 10% of the bid. The successful bidder must enter into a contract within ten calendar days of the City Council’s award and provide a Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bond equal to 100% of the contract price. The project has specified start and completion dates, substantial completion by November 6, 2026, and final completion by November 20, 2026. There are liquidated damages of $240 per day. Bidders must list intended subcontractors including work type and amounts. Preference must be given to products and labor from Iowa as legally required, and the Iowa reciprocal resident bidder preference law applies. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technicalities and irregularities.
