The City of South Lake Tahoe seeks to identify interested parties that would like to use the former Recreation Center, 1180 Rufas Allen Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 for public use - recreational related activities. The 34,000 square foot recreation center has a swimming pool, locker rooms, gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, meeting space, kitchen, and offices. Interested party must be able to meet the maintenance and capital improvement costs. The interested party will be required to meet the monthly maintenance costs to keep the facility running estimated at $606,900 annually, could be more depending on the type of use, frequency of use, and aging infrastructure. Costs could be less without pool use. The former Recreation Center is located on what is known as the 56-acre parcel which is owned by El Dorado County. The City of South Lake Tahoe owns the former Recreation Center and has a ground lease agreement with El Dorado County. The lease agreement states that the City of South Lake Tahoe must demolish the former Recreation Center from the site and return the site to uncovered land by 2037.
